About OurResin Bound Service.
A resin bound driveway is a hand-trowelled surface made from washed, kiln-dried natural aggregate blended on-site with a two-part clear resin. It's laid over a properly prepared base — usually new tarmac or existing sound tarmac — to create a smooth, UV-stable and fully permeable driveway or patio finish.
It's the right surface for homeowners across Stourbridge, Birmingham and the wider West Midlands who want a modern, low-maintenance driveway that looks handmade — without the movement, weeds or sunken joints that come with block paving over time.
Choose resin bound when you're replacing a tired, weed-ridden driveway, extending a patio or pathway, or specifying a new-build finish where SUDS-compliant permeable surfacing is required and pattern imprint concrete would look dated.
Done right, resin bound is a 15-year-plus surface. Done wrong — poor base prep, wrong resin ratio, cold-day installation — it fails within a season. VUBA is the system we're trained on; every mix is timed, temperature-checked and trowelled by the same crew from start to finish.
The Failures WeGet Called To Fix.
Cutting corners on resin bound shows up fast. Here's what to avoid — and what we build into every install instead.
Cracking within one winter
Resin laid over a failing or under-specified base cracks as the ground moves in the first freeze-thaw cycle. There's no cosmetic repair — the section has to come out and go back in.
Sticky, milky, yellowed finish
Non-UV-stable resin or an off-ratio mix looks fine on day one, then yellows within 12 months. A cheap quote today becomes a full re-lay in year two.
Puddling & drainage failures
Resin bound is permeable — but only over a permeable base. Lay it over a sealed slab and rainwater has nowhere to go, breaching SUDS regulations and pooling on your drive.
Weed growth through the surface
Skipping the herbicide + membrane step at ground works stage means weeds push through the resin from underneath within a year.
How We InstallYour Resin Bound.
Free site survey
We visit — usually within 24 hours — measure up, check the existing base, discuss aggregate colours and give you a clear written quote.
Full ground preparation
Excavation to depth (or over-lay assessment on sound tarmac), MOT type-1 sub-base, edging restraints, drainage and herbicide membrane where needed.
Base course
Fresh open-graded tarmac base laid, rolled and cured — the correct foundation for a long-lasting resin bound finish.
VUBA resin install
Two-part VUBA resin mixed on-site with your chosen aggregate, hand-trowelled in a continuous pour to avoid cold joints, then floated smooth.
Cure, clean & handover
24-hour foot traffic cure, 48–72 hour vehicle cure depending on weather. Final clean-up, walk-around, and your 10-year workmanship guarantee in writing.
Why It's WorthDoing It Right.

10-year workmanship guarantee

Everything We Install& How We Install It.
Materials we use
We install the VUBA resin bound system exclusively — a UV-stable, two-part polyurethane resin engineered for UK weather. Aggregates are washed, kiln-dried natural stone in a wide range of colours (autumn quartz, silver birch, midnight blue, gold, mixed blends). Base build-up is MOT type-1 sub-base plus open-graded permeable tarmac base course. Edging restraints are concrete-set block or metal, chosen to suit the property.
Our methods
Every install is hand-trowelled by our own crew — no sprayed shortcuts, no sub-contracted labour. Mix ratios are timed to the second and only mixed when ambient temperature and forecast are within VUBA's specification. On-site forced-action mixer, dedicated pour teams, and immediate hand-float finishing prevent cold joints and surface flooding.
Where it applies
Resin bound is the right call for modern new-builds, period property refurbishments where a clean contemporary look is wanted, sloped driveways where block paving would sink at joints, and any site where a SUDS-compliant permeable finish is required by planning. It's not the right call over a suspect base — we'll always tell you if excavation is needed rather than overlay.
Residential vs commercial
Most of our resin bound work is residential driveways and patios across the West Midlands. We also install for small commercial forecourts, care-home driveways and lettings-agent portfolios where a low-maintenance, high-kerb-appeal surface pays back on every viewing.
Variations of this service
Driveways
Full driveway installs from single-car frontages up to sweeping in-and-out drives. Minimum 18mm depth over a fresh tarmac base for vehicle-load resistance.
Patios & terraces
Rear garden patios and terraces at 15mm depth over a suitable base — perfect where a seamless surface is wanted between house and lawn.
Pathways & side access
Front paths, side access strips and step treads. Ideal for tying a driveway visually into the rest of the property.
Overlays on sound tarmac
Where existing tarmac is structurally sound and level, we can prep, prime and overlay directly — a faster, lower-disruption option than full excavation.
Every resin bound install is fully insured and backed for 10 years in writing. In-house crew, no sub-contracting, staged payments available.
Every driveway is priced individually because ground conditions, size, aggregate choice and edging all change the number. We give you a free written quote within 24 hours of your enquiry — no per-m² guesswork.
You Might AlsoNeed These.

Porcelain Driveways, Patios & Pathways
Porcelain paving is a high-density vitrified tile designed for outdoor use — near-zero water absorption, frost-proof, stain-resistant and dimensionally accurate. It's laid on a full mortar bed with a priming slurry to bond the tile to the mortar, giving a flat, stable, long-life patio, driveway or path.

Block Paving Driveways, Patios & Pathways
Block paving is a system of pre-cast concrete or clay blocks laid over a compacted engineered sub-base, bedded in sharp sand, and locked in place with kiln-dried jointing sand. Done properly, it distributes vehicle load across the whole surface — no sunken tyre tracks, no rocking blocks, no failed edges.

Gravel Driveways & Pathways
A properly built gravel driveway is a compacted MOT type-1 sub-base, a weed-suppressant membrane, edge restraints all the way round, and a top layer of decorative gravel — often now laid over a plastic honeycomb grid to lock the stones in place.
