A slabbed patio is a paved outdoor floor made from large-format concrete, natural sandstone, limestone or granite slabs, laid on a full mortar bed over a compacted sub-base and pointed with a purpose-made brush-in compound.

Materials we use
Indian sandstone (Kandla grey, mint fossil, autumn brown, raj green), sawn limestone, riven concrete slabs (Bradstone / Marshalls), granite setts and premium ranges. Full mortar bed of sharp sand and cement. Slurry primer on the back of every slab. Polymer-modified brush-in jointing compound.
Our methods
Excavation typically 150mm for a foot-traffic patio, more if it's going to take vehicles. Sub-base compacted to a firm level with drainage falls set. Full mortar bed screeded, slab back-buttered with slurry, laid, tapped down and levelled. Joints kept clear of mortar as slabs go down. Brush-in jointing worked into every joint at the end.
Where it applies
